Compliance e-learning

From mandatory information to behaviour that people understand and apply

Policies, procedures and regulations are only valuable if employees know what they need to do in practice. Maxcademy translates complex and mandatory knowledge into clear, interactive e-learning with scenarios, examples, assessments and LMS delivery.

More than a tick box

Good compliance learning helps people not only remember what the rule is, but recognise what that rule means in their own work.

E-learning supports compliance. It does not replace your policies and processes.

Training is one part of demonstrable and responsible action.

The substantive and legal experts of the organisation determine which rules, standards and procedures apply. Maxcademy ensures that this knowledge is made understandable, learnable, applicable and technically well available.

Complex rules and risks translated into practical learning

Our cases show how different types of mandatory or risk-sensitive knowledge can be transformed into clear learning experiences.

Why mandatory information often does not stick

The content is usually important. The problem often lies in the way that content reaches employees.

The source document is written for experts

Legislation, protocols and policies often contain legal or specialist language that does not align with the daily work situation of the learner.

Employees know the rule, but not when it is relevant

Remembering a definition is different from recognising in a realistic situation what behaviour or decision is expected from someone.

Everyone receives the same long training

Risk, responsibility and context vary by role. Where possible, we make content relevant for the target audience.

The training feels like a mandatory task

Long text screens and predictable quiz questions lead to clicking instead of learning. We design for understanding and application.

Policy changes

Compliance content must be maintainable when procedures, regulations or internal agreements are adjusted.

The organisation wants to demonstrate completion

An LMS can record who has completed a module and what test results have been achieved, as far as the chosen setup supports that.

From policy document to learnable behaviour

We start with the question: what should someone know, recognise, decide or do differently after this training?

Next, we work with the subject matter experts of the organisation to understand the source material. Maxcademy is not the legal, safety or compliance expert and does not independently change substantive rules.

We take on the didactic translation: structure, language, examples, scenarios, multimedia, interaction, assessment, project management, QA and technical delivery.

1. Understand source & risk

What rules apply, to whom, in what situations and what can go wrong?

2. Determine core message

From complete documentation to what the target audience really needs to know and apply.

3. Practising with the practice

Using scenarios, examples, dilemmas and choices where behaviour is central.

4. Testing & delivering

Checking knowledge or application and making the training technically available in the LMS.

The learning form depends on the risk and the desired behaviour

Not every subject requires the same combination of explanation, practice and testing.

Clear explanation

Reducing complex rules to understandable language and relevant core messages.

Scenarios & dilemmas

Practising with situations in which someone must recognise and apply a rule.

Video & animation

Visually and compactly explaining processes, risks and abstract concepts.

Reflection

Encouraging participants to think about their own role, choices and responsibilities.

Testing

Checking knowledge, understanding or application with appropriate assessments.

Maintainable modules

Modular content allows for targeted updates when policies or regulations change.

Example: AI literacy in the context of the EU AI Act

Article 4 of the EU AI Act requires providers and users' responsibilities of AI systems to take measures to support the AI literacy of employees and other relevant individuals.

Account must be taken of, among other things, technical knowledge, experience, education and the context in which AI systems are used. The current consolidated text does not prescribe a fixed individual level of knowledge or one specific form of training.

A target group-oriented e-learning can therefore be part of a broader approach to teach employees to handle AI responsibly, but is not in itself a guarantee that an organisation meets all obligations.

Regulation by learning objective

The legal expert determines what the organisation must secure. We help translate that need into a suitable learning experience.

Completion & results

The LMS can record progress, completion and assessment results, depending on the technical setup.

Do you already have an LMS? Then we will deliver the training in it.

Compliance learning does not have to be on Maxcademy's own platform. We can work directly in your learning environment or deliver modules as SCORM/xAPI.

Where appropriate, completion status and assessments can be used to record participation and learning outcomes. What data is needed as formal evidence depends on your own compliance, audit and governance requirements.

Do you not yet have a suitable learning environment? Then we can provide Maxcademy Learn or think independently about a suitable LMS.

Compliance content must be able to change when the rules change

A training that is correct today may become outdated after a policy change or new regulations. That is why we consider maintainability during the design phase.

By building subjects modularly, specific passages, scenarios, screens or assessments can be adjusted without having to recreate the entire training.

Maxcademy can remain involved after the initial delivery with periodic updates, new versions, technical QA and republishing in the LMS.

Designed for updates

Especially with regulations and policies, maintenance is not a minor issue, but part of a sustainable learning solution.

Frequently asked questions about compliance e-learning

Not automatically. E-learning can inform employees, allow them to practice and record completion or assessment. Whether an organisation complies with laws and regulations also depends on policies, processes, oversight, technical measures and other organisational obligations.

Yes. We use policies, protocols, manuals, and expert interviews as sources and translate them into learning objectives, understandable explanations, practical situations, and appropriate assessments.

The client's subject matter experts remain responsible for subject matter, legal, and policy validation. Maxcademy focuses on Learning Design, clarity, production, and technical delivery.

Yes. We can develop knowledge questions, scenario-based assessments, and final tests The format depends on what the organisation actually wants to measure: knowledge, understanding, or application.

In most LMSs, completion can be recorded and assessment results can be logged where necessary. The exact capabilities depend on the LMS, the chosen standard, and the technical configuration.

Yes. We can deliver modules as SCORM/xAPI for an existing LMS or develop and test directly in your learning environment.

Yes. We can analyse existing modules, adjust content, replace outdated components, add new scenarios or assessment questions and deliver the updated version technically again.

Do you have policies or mandatory knowledge that people really need to apply?

Put us in touch with the subject matter experts and share the relevant policy documents, procedures or regulations.

We help determine what the target audience really needs to learn and translate that into a clear, interactive and maintainable learning experience.
